MYAA Baseball Outline:
In an effort to meet the various demands of its constituency, MYAA Baseball will provide multiple opportunities and levels of play this season. In principal there will be two main avenues for players to play Travel Baseball and House League Baseball. Within the House League play there will also be the opportunity for players to play some travel baseball, including District play. Below is a general description of the various opportunities for your review and consideration. The specifics of each program are still being developed and will be forwarded via email and posted on the web site as soon as they are defined. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me, Mark Harris (email@example.com) and I will do my best to answer your questions.
There will be one team per age group. The teams will participate in the Tri-State Elite Baseball League (http://tsebaseball.net), or another similar league, as well as regional tournaments. The exact number of league games and tournaments will vary depending upon the individual teams. The teams will be selected in January through an impartial tryout and evaluation process and start play in March and continue through the end of July. There will also be a second season of play in the fall, starting around Labor Day and continuing through early November.
The expectation is that Travel Baseball will be a minimum of (4) nights a week of games and practices. During tournament weekends the commitment may be 3-4 games over the weekend. Due to the increased numbers of games the fees will be higher than the fees associated with House League play.
House League Baseball (Town Baseball):
House League baseball will provide two opportunities for the participants House League and District Play.
House League is the traditional league made up of teams from Medford and Medford Lake kids from ages 5 -18. House league plays as part of the Cal Ripken / Babe Ruth leagues. They league will be open to any and all registrants within those age groups. The number of teams will be determined by the number of players registering. The teams play against each other for a 12+ game season. Practices will start in March with games to start in April. There will be (3) baseball experiences a week two games and one practice. At the end of the season there will a playoff to determine the champions of each respective division. The fees, to be confirmed, will be roughly the same as they have been over the past several years between $95 - $140 depending upon the age and early registration.
From the players on the House League teams an All-Star team will be selected to play in the Cal Ripken / Babe Ruth District play against our surrounding communities, such as Tabernacle, Southampton, Indian Mills, Pemberton and Mount Holly. The District Tournament is part of a National Tournament that allows the team to keep playing as long as they keep winning with the ultimate goal of playing in a World Series against the best Town teams around the country.
The District team will also have the opportunity to play travel baseball with the Tri-State Elite Baseball against other town teams on Sundays during the house league season as well as other area tournaments when the house league season is completed. There will be additional fees, above the House League fees, for the Tri-State Elite or Area Tournament play.
Please review the various opportunities to determine which best meets you and your ballplayers goals for his/her baseball experience. Again please feel free to contact me with any questions.
