The opening day game brought a 14-7 win for the Spott's Hardware team, thank's to good pitching and smart batting. Pitchers Kevin Boswick, George Rudderow, Tim Pagliuso, and Rutger Johannink only allowed 3 walks and stuck out 7 batters. Overall, all pitchers were very accurate, and were a major contributor to the win.
Every player got on base during the game! We had 11 hits which included a 2 run double by Tim Pagliuso, and a 2 run hit by Tommy Smith.Tommy Freund had a pair of hits, including a bases loaded double, and David Mitchell reach first base three times! J.J. Obrien reached base on a hit and a walk and made agreat play at third to end an inning. Dalton Lanoza reached base and was active in the field, but was sidelined with an injury.
Wayne Wanzor caught a hard hit fly ball in left field, and then followed up with a nice play at second to end the game. Dan Pagliuso was on base twice, and made some nice plays at short.
Overall, nice job guys!
REMEMBER: **ALWAYS RUN TO THE BALL** If it is batted ball, charge the ball hard and come up throwing. If it is a thrown ball that is wide, step over and get it.
