The Medford Indian 10U team won the District tournament tonight with a 19-12 win over a gritty Tabernacle team. The game was a great team effort with contributions up and down the bench! It seemed like everytime Tabernacle would try getting back into the game, the Medford team just shut the door by delivering a big pitch or turning in a great defensive play. On offense, everyone battled to get on base and they were very aggressive on the base paths. The Medford squad used everything from walks, bunts, and solid hitting to pile up the runs enroute to the Championship game win!

The Medford team played the District Tournament through the winner's bracket, with 10 run wins over New Egypt and Pemberton. The team was tested by a tough Sacred Heart team on Tuesday evening with a "gut-check" 8 inning victory. The Medford 10s put it all together with great pitching, catching, fielding, as well as timely hitting and heads-up baserunning. Sacred Heart took a 2-0 lead, but the Indians took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the 6th inning. Sacred Heart battled to tie the game, and had the winning run on 3rd with 2 outs. An outstanding infield play got the 3rd out and sent the game into extra innings. After both teams worked through a scoreless 7th, they headed to the 8th, where timely hitting put 3 runs in the book for Medford. With pitching and defense, they held off Sacred Heart in the bottom of the 8th for the 7-4 victory that sent them to tonight's Championship game.

The 10s will now prepare to battle at the Cal Ripken State Tournament in Mount Holly at the Sacred Heart/CYO fields. Their first game at the State Tournament is on Friday 7/8/05 at 6pm vs. the District 3 Champs.

Come support a great young Medford Squad as they battle their way to the 10U Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament that will be hosted in Medford beginning July 21!
