The Stone Masons Reds, led by a brilliant pitching performance from Eric M., Frankie H., Michael R. and Andrew B., stingy defense from Josh B., Zac B., Scott R. Zach F., Ryan M., Zack F., and Robert H., and inspirational leadership from Mattie M., held of a tough RSI team for their first win of the 2005 campaign.
Frigid fans were treated to outstanding pitching and defense from both sides. RSI took an early 3-0 lead in the top half of the first inning, taking full advantage of several walks and clutch hitting from the top of their order. It appeared as if the Reds might be headed to their ninth defeat of the season, but their outstanding pitching staff bore down on the RSI batters the rest of the way.
The Reds climbed back into the game in the bottom half of the second inning, as their patience at the plate and agressive base running evened the score at 3-3. The same combination combined to produce another 3 runs in the bottom half of third inning, before RSI answered with one of their own in the top half of the fourth. Pitchers on both sides stymied opposing hitters the rest of the game.
After the final outcome was decided the skies were filled with red and black Reds caps, as the players celebrated their first win.
