The Burns Honda Red Sox are off to a 3-0 start after today's 14-1 victory of the Medford Police SOA Pirates. After holding their opponent to a scoreless first inning for the second game in a row, the Red Sox Matt Klischies continued to do what a lead-off hitter is supposed to do and reached first with a single. Jonathan Locantore and Tucker Byrne followed Matt's success and loaded the bases for Chris Bunn who drove in the first run of the game. Jake Miller and Jeff Amisano each drove in a run in the first inning which continued a Red Sox trend of getting production throughout their line-up. The Pirates threw up a defensive wall in the second inning shutting down the Sox after only four batters. Although the score may not show it, the Pirates made several excellent fielding plays and had a number of players with strong arms and good hands. Good sportsmanship was on display all around as the game was played without an umpire with Pirates coaches filling in for the men in blue. Joey Wigley and Ian Walker both had a good day at the plate each getting two hits and scoring a total of 3 runs. The next game for the Sox is Friday night April 29 at 7:30. The boys are excited about playing their first game under the lights. My thanks to the parents who continue to come out and cheer the boys on.
