Medford advanced to a meeting with Sacred Heart CYO who defeated Southampton in the tournament's opening game.

Medford defeated Sacred Heart 13-0 in a winner's bracket game Saturday afternoon in 13 year old Babe Ruth tournament play. Medford advances to the championship game on Monday night at 7:00 at Patty Bowker Field in Tabernacle.

Medford's defense dominated the game with brilliant defensive plays from right fielder Kevin Hickey who dove for a soft liner and came up throwing, doubling off a runner at first base and a diving catch by John Montemurro in centerfield who threw out a runner at the plate on a fly to center and choked off another scoring opportunity in the third inning with a diving catch. Medford turned 4 double plays and catcher Shocker LaPierre picked a runner off of third base to back Anthony Montefusco who started and got the win. Jonathan Hydock pitched an inning in relief in the game shortened to five innings by the ten-run rule.

Offensively Medford's thirteen runs were generated by 11 hits and aggressive baserunning. John Montemurro was 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 2 runs batted in, Chris Vonderschmidt, Jonathan Hydock and Matt Heinkel each had two hits and Vonderschmidt and Heinkel two runs batted in apiece. Tyler Barto had two hits for Sacred Heart in a losing cause.
