The Genie House Giants made their way into the National Finals after defeating the Marlins 4-0 in six innings.
Chris Rubbutino threw a one hitter in five innings and held the Marlins to one hit, five walks. He earned all his outs on strikeouts.
The Giants earned 3 of their four runs in the first three innings. Rob Hanold led off the first with a line drive single who was moved over on a single by Nathan Cohen. Hanold and Cohen scored on a hard hit double by Chris Rabbutino. In the second, Trevor Gulledge doubled and scored on a two base hit by Jack Divney. Mike Pantano advanced Divney to third base on a surprising bunt, however, the rally could not be extended. In the bottom of the third, Chris Rabbutino hit a two out triple and was knocked in by Evan Mellow. JJ Fritsch of the Marlins quieted the Giants bats when he settled down. JJ struck out eight batters in three innings.
The Giants closing pitcher, Robbie Hanold, shut down the Marlins by giving up one hit and striking out three.
The Giants square off against the 2nd place Medford Police Association Monday evening at 5:30 pm Field #3. It's sure to be a good showing by both teams. The Giants went 1-1 in regular season play against Medford Police.
