Saturday brought a lot of rain, but it did not dampen the spirits or slow down the play of the Medford teams playing in the Mount Laurel Summer Slam A team Tournament. The 9 year old varsity had it's second come from behind victory in the morning beating Moorestown 10-9. After beating Washington Township on Thursday, the 9's go into a 3 PM showdown with Cherry Hill on Sunday sitting at 2-0.
The 12 Varsity bounced back from a tough one run loss to Mt. Laurel on Thursday by pounding GVAA 11-3. The 12's got great pitching and solid defense to back an explosion with the bats. Their next game is 3 PM Sunday vs. the Moorestown / Winslow winner.
The 11's have their district teams in the tournament and the Americans pulled out an exiting extra inning win over Southampton to go to 2-0 and will play Mt. Laurel Monday night. The Nationals have played well, too and sit at 1-1 as they go into their Sunday afternoon game vs. the Marlton Reds.
So far this summer, all of the Medford travel teams have been playing incredibly well. Good luck to all of the teams the rest of the weekend.
