Sander Cardinals Fly Into World Series

Two triples and strong pitching led the Sander, Hannye and Carson Cardinals to a 7-3 victory over the Victor Printing Brewers. Steve McCollum started for the Cards and pitched 2 strong innings (2 Ks). He was followed by Joe Tucci (1 inning, 2 Ks) and Chris Vaughan (1 inning, 1 K). Closer Anthony Papasso turned in another stellar performance allowing no runs while striking out 4 over his two innings of work.
After a scoreless first, the Cards scored two in the second. Will Stiles led off with a triple and scored on a ground out by Steve McCollum. Ryan Brunetti walked and reached third on two wild pitches. Then Bradford Conners singled him in.The Brewers scored one in the bottom of the second.
In the top of the fourth, the first three Cardinals walked bringing Will Stiles to the plate. Will then knocked in 2 runs with his second hit, a single. One out later, Ryan Brunetti reached on an error and another run scored. That brought Tyler Pierce to the plate and he responded with a triple to knock in two runs.
The game ended on a nice stop at third by Ryan Sander who threw out the Brewer at first.
For the Brewers who also had a fine season, Dan Kelleher pitched two scoreless innings while striking out 5. Dan Pagliuso and Robbie Vogel each doubled in a losing cause.
Next stop for the Cardinls the Medford Majors World Series against the Farmers and Mechanics Bank Orioles.
