L&L Redi-Mix Win Streak Continues
The L&L Redi-Mix Dodgers extended their win streak to 3 games with a 12-5 victory over the Dr. Mark R Kazmierski Royals last night.
The game started strongly for the Dodgers scoring 12 runs on 14 hits in the first 3 innings while holding the Royals strong hitting offense scoreless. Strong plate performances by Ryan Schroy, Vince Corbi, Nick Ristine, and Alex Borucki led the way.
Matt Igo took his first trip of the season to the mound in the third inning and kept his ERA a perfect 0.00. With the help and experience of Peter Ristine behind the plate, he settled in to record his first K.
The game was not without some added drama. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, during an outstanding defensive play at 3rd base, Nick Ristine suffered an injury to his left arm. (X-rays later showed that he had a fracture above his wrist.) L&L Redi-Mix played the balance of the game with only 8 players. The Royals, behind outstanding pitching from Tyler Kaiser and D.J. Carruthers, shut down the Dodger bats and made some noise at the plate but fell a little short in their comeback attempt.
Unfortunately for Nick Ristine, his season has come to an end with the broken arm. After struggling at the plate for the beginning of the season, he decided to try batting left-handed. The results were amazing! He went on a run going 10-14 with 3 doubles. We will miss him in the line-up and on the field during the playoffs.
