Tigers Win Streak extends to 3-games with Victory Over Brewers

Griffin Foster socked 3 hits and Ryan Simalchik and Matthew Canuso each knocked in 3 runs on 4-4 hitting as the Detroit Tigers won a close game against the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday, 18-15. Alec Sozio pounded out the first of his two hits in the first, as the Tigers jumped to a 4-0 lead. Great defense again by the Tigers, this time from James DeLaurentis and Michael Iles, kept the Brewers scoreless. The Tigers extended the lead to 9-2 after two, on hits from Jack Sanborn and Max Iles. After the Brewers roared back to close the lead to 9-7, Jake Askin lead a 4-run third inning with one of his 4 big hits, to give the Tigers a 13-7 lead. But the Brewers would not quit, and rallied for 5 in the fourth, to narrow the score to 13-12. It looked as though the Tigers might miss the bat of lead-off hitter Billy Martin, but hits by Foster, DeLaurentis, Simalchik and Canuso, coupled with great team hitting by the Iles brothers to move the runners, lead to a 5-run rally in the fourth inning. Two good defensive stops by Foster and Sarandoulias at first, and strong catching by Sozio, kept the Brewers from scoring multiple runs in the Fifth. But the game was not over until Matthew Canuso made two brilliant plays a third base: a diving put out to register the second out and a pick up and quick tag on the runner moving to third, to end another thrilling game.
