On Thursday, the Sander, Hannye & Carson Cardinals took an early 6-0 lead and hung on for an eventual 7-5 victory over the Victor Printing Brewers.
Chris Vaughan continued his strong pitching for the Cards by opening the game with 2 shut-out innings. He worked his way out of a second inning bases loaded, no out jam aided by a play at the plate in which catcher Tyler Pierce flipped to Chris covering home for the first out. The second out was recorded on a nice catch by right fielder Bradford Conners. The Cardinals pitcher ended the inning, without any damage, by striking out the next batter.
In the top of the fifth, Victor Printing had scored 4 runs when Dan Kelleher hit a screaming line drive to left field. William Beighley made an amazing shoe top catch to end the inning.
Steve McCollum, Anthony Papasso, Will Stiles, Bradford Conners, Scott Turner, Ryan Sander (a 2 run double) and William Beighley all had hits for the Cardinals.
Kyle Wigley and Matt Ware had 2 hits apiece for the Brewers. Also, Dan Kelleher struckout the side in his one inning of work for the Brewers.
