The Burlington County Times Red Sox won an exciting opener 5-4 on Saturday, despite playing the game with just eight players.
The Red Sox demonstrated courage and determination twice rallying from defecits using skilled basrunning, timely hitting and a dominating trio of pitchers.
Scott, Sean L and Sean H combined for 15 strikeouts while limiting the opposing team to just 3 hits in an outstanding pitching performance. Sean L notched the win in relief and Sean H pitched 2 innings of hitless relief to record the Save.
Conor led the Red Sox offensive attack reaching base 3 times (1/2 double) scoring 3 times including a savy steal of home to put the Red Sox ahead to stay in the fourth.
Sean L (2/2 1R) Sean H (1/3 1RBI) and Scott (1/3 1RBI)also starred on offense.
Trailing 4-3 in the fourth inning, Jordan walked and stole second. With 2 outs, Conor worked a walk and Sean H responded by rapping a sharp single to right scoring Jordan to tie the game. Conor raced to third and scored when the pitcher tried to pick him off with a throw to third.
Alex and Jordan contributed by patrolling the entire outfield with just two players.
"Win,lose or draw you have to be proud of the way the team played today. Obviously outmanned, they scapped and refused to lose. A great way to start the season." said the Coach after the game.
