Starting Friday Night - there were 4 teams in tournament play the combined record (with 1 game remaining on Sunday afternoon) was 9 - 1.
The 10U playing in the Cal Ripken Disctrict 6 tournament was 2 - 0 with a great extra inning come from behind victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday. It was great team effort being down 4 runs heading into the top of the 6th, they scored two runs in each of the 6th and 7th innings to tie the score.
Ryan Schroy got on with 1 out in the extra inning, Drew Haines followed with a beatiful drag bunt putting runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. The runners moved over on a pass-ball and were driven in by a clean single to center by Kyle Wigley to put Medford up by 2 runs. Medford scored 2 more insurance runs to lead 11-7 heading into the bottom of the inning.
James Pshick in his 3rd inning of relief for Connor McMahon got the 1st two batters in the inning before a single by Sacred Heart's lead off batter. James induced the number 2 hitter into a pop fly to end the game.
What a great game by players and coaches! The next game is Tuesday night 6:00pm at the New Egypt fields against the Indian Mills team. This game is the winner's bracket final determing who gets to go to the championship round undeafeted. Go root your Medford team on - they are a good team and play some real entertaining baseball. Directions to the field are on the web site.
