In a Saturday night game that ended with the bases loaded and Merrit's threatening to win the game in walk-off fashion Borden survived with a win.
There were high points and low points, the best being Dave Newman moving up to the lead off spot and getting on base four times, Marc Milano driving a double to left for one of his two hits, John Grady with three hits and Ryan Welsey, Chris LaPierre with two hits apiece.
John Montemurro was a dominant force at shortstop with his hands and his throwing arm and pitched two scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Ron Surman had a nice grab in right field and Jeff Currie made a nice catch on a foul ball down the third base line. LaPierre pitched thee innings, allowing one run and striking out 2 with only two hits.
Our next game is Monday night at 7:00 against the Spott's Hardware team, whom we have not yet faced this year.
